February 16th, 2017

Nine three-year-olds will contest the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday; the final stop on the traditional path towards the Randwick Guineas and a race offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint.

Comin’ Through has already stamped himself as a serious black type horse during his short racing career and the brother of Criterion has subsequently firmed into outright $4.20 favouritism in 2017 Hobartville Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Debuting for a smart win in a Warwick Farm minor over 1400m on September 14th, Comin’ Through ran second amongst talented company in the Royal Randwick Fashions BM70 (1400m) on October 8th before storming home to win the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) on October 29th.

Trialling well in the lead-up to his 2017 return, the Fastnet Rock colt ran on for fifth in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago and will relish a step-up to 1400m on Saturday.

Michael Walker retains the ride on Comin’ Through, who should prove extremely tough to beat from barrier 4 in the Hobartville Stakes.

Prized Icon is yet to herald much interest in Hobartville Stakes betting markets, but remains the sole occupant of the second line at a $4.50 quote.

Capping a standout two-year-old campaign with a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m), Prized Icon resumed in spring for a smart fourth in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m).

Failing to fire amongst open company in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m), the More Than Ready colt responded well for minors in each of the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) and Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m).

Running well for fifth in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m), Prized Icon produced a strong turn of foot in the final straight at Flemington to take out the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) last time out on October 29th.

Man From Uncle carries winning form into the Hobartville Stakes and arguably represents the best value for money as a $5.50 third-favourite.

Man From Uncle closed out a smart debut campaign third in the Listed Hilton Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on November 5th and had clearly taken plenty of benefit from his time away from racing when he resumed for a classy win in the Eskimo Prince Stakes.

Perhaps requiring some luck in transit from barrier 7, Man From Uncle will be partnered by Jason Collett on Saturday.
