2015 Hobartville Stakes Tips and Betting Preview

February 20th, 2015

The 2015 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) is shaping as the weekend’s most exciting horse race after attracting a particularly talented field of 13, and is therefore also offering exceptional value to punters looking to place a wager.

Having broken through for a maiden Group 1 victory in his most recent appearance on course, Shooting To Win ($4.20) currently features as outright favourite in 2015 Hobartville Stakes betting markets ahead of Scissor Kick ($5.50), Hallowed Crown and Panzer Division; currently sharing the third line at a quote of $6 for success with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Will Shooting To Win justify favouritism and win the Hobartville Stakes first-up, or will one of his many classy rivals hit the line in the clear?

Hallowed Crown ($6)

Having also secured a maiden Group 1 victory over the Spring Carnival, Hallowed Crown is yet to taste anything but success first-up and arguably offers punters the best value for money at $6 odds for success this weekend as a result. Taking out a minor sprinter over 1150m on debut before making a successful transition to black type racing in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m), the Street Sense colt posted an easy first-up win in the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1200m) upon resuming in spring before charging home to win the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 13th. Trialling well at Randwick on February 2nd, Hallowed Crown will be partnered by leading jockey Hugh Bowman and will leave from the ideal barrier 4.

Panzer Division ($6)

Panzer Division received an ideal tune-up when fourth amongst open company in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) first-up on January 31st, and is sure to react favourable to a step-back to his own age group and step-up in distance in the 2015 Hobartville Stakes. Running second to Scissor Kick in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) on August 23rd, Panzer Division returned to the winner’s circle in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) before running a credible fifth amongst open company in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) on September 20th. Charged with overcoming barrier 12, Panzer Division has been confirmed to be partnered by in-form hoop Tommy Berry.

Shooting To Win ($4.20)

Class is sure to count for a lot in the 2015 Hobartville Stakes; a trait Shooting To Win has more than displayed over his short but impressive career so far. Beating just one runner home in the Up And Coming Stakes upon resuming in spring, the Northern Meteor colt quickly found his rhythm in placing second in the Ming Dynasty Quality and third in the Golden Rose; returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) before displaying an exceptional turn of foot to win the featured Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 11th.
