A particularly talented field has been confirmed for Saturday’s Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens, in what is shaping as the weekend’s standout race for thoroughbred racehorses.

Four Group 1 champions have been confirmed in the 2015 Hobartville Stakes final field, including classy Victoria Derby (2400m) winner Preferment.

Placing seventh in a minor over 900m on debut at Sandown in July, Preferment steadily build to the task in finishing third in the Grand Hotel Frankston Handicap (1300m) and second in each of the Testa Rossa @ Vinery Handicap (1400m) and More Than Ready Plate (1550m) in September.

Running on for fourth despite an early check in a minor over 1600m on October 8th, the Zabeel colt responded favourably to a step-up to 2200m when second in the Listed Geelong Classic in his only other start prior to his Victoria Derby triumph.

Allocated the central barrier 7, Preferment is more likely to perform upon reaching greater running distances through the 2015 Autumn Carnival.

Shooting To Win was particularly impressive when taking out the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) most recently on October 11th, and is a leading chance for first-up 2015 Hobartville Stakes success following a string of impressive barrier trials.

Taking out two minor sprints on debut in winter before returning to the paddock, Shooting To Win beat just one runner home in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) upon resuming in spring, but quickly found his feet in placing second in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m).

Running on for an impressive third in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m), the Northern Meteor colt returned to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m), in what figured as his only other start prior to the Caulfield Guineas.

Hallowed Crown was unbeaten leading into his maiden Group 1 victory in the Golden Rose Stakes, and is arguably the best positioned for success in the 2015 Hobartville Stakes after drawing the ideal barrier 4.

Taking out a minor over 1150m on debut in March, Hallowed Crown made a successful step-up to black type racing when taking out the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Displaying an exceptional turn of foot to take out the Group 3 Run To The Rose a fortnight prior to his Golden Rose triumph, the son of Street Sense could only manage fourth in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) last time out on October 4th.

Securing three wins and a further two minor places over his ten starts so far, Hampton Court returned to racing in spring for a disappointing eighth in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) and continued to build in form in finishing third behind Sweynesse and First Seal in a minor over 1400m before placing third in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m) on September 17th.

Partnered by leading Hong Kong-based jockey Joao Moreira in the Listed Dulcify Quality (1600m) on October 4th, the Redoute’s Choice colt was given little chance for success, but broke through for a maiden black type victory; repeating the dose in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) only one week later.
